With a record of qualifying to the Grand Finals 10 out of 11 times, Azerbaijan has already proved its mettle at the Eurovision Song Contest. Known for its rich musical culture, the country has time and again given us great stage performances at the competition and the same can be expected in 2019 too.
Chingiz Mustafayev has been announced to represent Azerbaijan at the contest with his song ”Truth”. The singer was picked internally by the Azeri broadcaster, ?ctimai Television. Unlike countries that are choosing fresh talent, Chingiz already has a good reputation in his country as an artist.
The music video for the song was released on 8th March and it seems to have been received positively by the listeners. The song talks about the existence of an illusion with an incessant desire to not talk about it due to its harmful nature. This illusion has been personified as a woman but the cause of the danger has not been detailed out. The mystery in the lyrics, as well as the music video, leaves room for interpretation.
