Shweta Pandit is an Indian singer and actress who has recorded several popular songs in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu language films and belongs to the Mewati Gharana of Indian classical music. She is a 4th-generation member of the renowned Pandit family of singers and musicians. She won a Filmfare award in 2009 in the category ‘Best Female Playback Singer’ for the hit Telugu-language song Kotha Bangaru Lokam. Apart from her singing career, Shweta has branched into acting as well having appeared in the 2013 crime-drama film David and the Indian adaptation of the action-thriller TV series 24 (2013). She had also co-hosted the 2016 edition of Mirchi Music Awards with singer Sonu Nigam.

Shweta’s first singing credit came at the age of just 4 when she worked with legendary musician and film composer Ilayaraja for the 1990 Tamil-language drama film Anjali. She even dubbed for the lead child actress when the film was re-made in Hindi.
At the age of 9, she recorded songs for the Hindi-language drama film Saaz, which was legendary Tabla player Ustad Zakir Hussain‘s first as a film score composer.
Her debut solo album titled Main Zindagi Hoon (2002) was released when she was just 16 years old.
She was the lead female vocalist of renowned music composer A. R. Rahman‘s 2009 Jai Ho Journey Home Concert – World Tour. In 2010, she performed the Oscar-winning song Jai Ho with Rahman at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo.
In October 2018, she leveled serious allegations of s*xual harassment on well-known music director Anu Malik stating that he had assaulted her when she was just 15 years old. This was one of the several allegations that led to his dismissal from the Indian Idol show where he was one of the judges.
