Mike Tyson and British promoter, Frank Warren, entered a jewelry store in London in January 2000, when Tyson was there for a fight, with a desire to buy some new jewelry. The shopping haul–which would become heavily discussed in the  media because of a quarrel over who would pay the bill–cost the duo $630,000 once it was settled.

On his first visit, Mike Tyson bought a diamond watch and bracelet from the London Jeweler, in addition to two other previously purchased watches, for over $227,500. Then, he beat Julius Francis in two rounds in January, and returned to fight Lou Savarese, who he knocked out in 38 seconds in Scotland. 

With these notable victories, Mike Tyson was ready to celebrate. He returned to the jewelry store and picked out a diamond watch with a sapphire dial for $200,000, and a custom fit emerald and diamond bracelet for $250,000. 

Later, Tyson picked up two pocket watches for his children, and negotiated a final offering price of $180,000. 

All charges were paid in full, and Mike Tyson’s jewelry collection continued to grow. With so much invested in his wrist bling, no wonder large luxury watch brands asked Mike Tyson to sponsor their merchandise.
